The Story That Started 47% Less

I’m Myrna the creator of 47% less

I live in beautiful Colorado with my husband and our three kids: two teen boys and a tween girl. We’re also a special‑needs family, which shapes a lot of our daily rhythm and the way we think about time, purpose, and priorities.

Our journey to 47% Less began when we lost our main source of income. Guess how much?

Yes, 47% of our income.

It could have felt like a straightforward loss, but instead, we sensed an opportunity. An opportunity to slow down, live more intentionally, and devote more energy to serving God and caring for our family.

At the time, my husband was working three jobs. I was homeschooling, caring for our son with special needs, managing my online job, and trying to keep up with everything else life was asking of me.

We were busy, stretched thin, and not fully present with each other. Something had to change.

So we chose a different path. Not one of drastic lifestyle shifts or rigid systems, but a gentler, more thoughtful approach: small steps, taken with purpose.

Our values: living for God’s glory, contentment, gratitude, biblical financial stewardship, and keeping family first, guide everything we’re doing.

And through this process, I’ve learned something surprising: less can be a good thing when you reduce the right things.

I’m not a financial expert.

I’m not a minimalist.

Not only that, but I’m not extreme in any direction, not couponing for hours or chasing trends.

I’m simply a wife and mom trying to steward our resources wisely and live with intention, one choice at a time.

Here on this website, I share the practical steps we’re taking, the habits we’re rethinking, what’s working (also what isn’t), and the mindset shifts that are helping us build a life aligned with what we believe matters most.

I hope that as you follow along, you’ll feel encouraged and motivated to take your own small steps, not just toward a number, but toward a better lifestyle.

One step at a time. One change at a time.

We’re learning as we go, and you’re welcome to walk with us.
